It’s the beginning of the month! You know what that means… me and my girls with Bluff City Lights (Alex, Mary, and Megan) are at it again. This month we have a special two part series about our staycation at The Peabody Memphis. In this weeks part one post we are covering tea, drinks, and dinner. In part two we are are covering the cozy hotel room, slumber party ;), and brunch.
Bridging the gap between Memphis’ heart and soul, and the city’s grit and grind is not small feat. However, the Peabody does it with ease and class. It is one of Memphis most grand hotels, yet it has an ever inviting atmosphere! Beginning with the world-famous Peabody Ducks who march to and from the Grand Lobby fountain each day at 11 a.m. and again at 5 p.m. in a long standing tradition that dates back to 1933.
Our weekend begin with tea served at Chez Philippe. I can honestly say this was a high point for me. I have lived in Memphis my whole life, and had no clue how magical the traditional English afternoon tea was. Come to find out Chez Philippe is the only Memphis restaurant who offers a complete traditional afternoon tea. We enjoyed a three-course menu consisting of tea sandwiches, assorted sweets and warm scones. We also had champagne, and teas as well. Afternoon tea is a “do not miss” if you are visiting the Peabody!
Afternoon Tea is served Wednesday – Saturday, 1 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. $35 – $45 for adults, $26 for children (12 and under), plus tax and gratuity. Includes valet parking.
After tea we checked into our room, and relaxed for a little while. We changed and popped back downstairs for a drink in the lobby before dinner. I love the Peabody lobby (especially during the holiday times). It always seems to be buzzing with people. It is a great spot to snag a table, have a drink or two, and enjoy the people watching. After Drinks we headed over the Capriccio Grill for dinner. The food was really good and the service was even better.
