I am about to give it to you straight. I think with all the Disney info out there I try to make myself a source for cutting through the Disney bs so to say, and getting right down to, should we do this, or should we not, based off two things… cost + experience.
I 100% would recommend Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party to anyone thinking about going down this time of the year. I think it is one of Disney’s best after hours parties, and they really go all out. Due to the high volume of people at the park in the fall, this is a great way to cut down on line times and get to enjoy a night in the park without so many people .
Getting in to the party:
They actually filter everyone out of the park, and only those with the wrist bands are filtered back in and not to the exit. It sounds like a big ordeal but much like everything else Disney does they have it down to a science and you almost feel like your doing something special. So you really are only in the park with those who have paid for the party.
While filtering you back in through the halloween themed tunnel they provide you with a bag so your kids can trick or treat, and collect candy all around the park. Most characters will have candy for you as well. Some of the kids thought my mom was a character, can’t imagine why ha, and would run up to her asking for candy.
Rides:
Most all of the major rides are open during the party. They close down fast pass lines. Everyone filters through one line. Most major rides don’t have waits longer than 30 min. Tip: you’re better starting with the rides that are less popular and work your way to the more popular ones because most people do the opposite.
Entertainment:
The show in front of the castle (Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular) this year was “Hocus Pocus” themed and super cute, but the highlight was definitely the parade. It is the best one I’ve seen at a park so far. Every character makes an appearance and it’s just really really cute! It runs twice during the night so no worries finding a viewing spot. I would also not miss the fire work show as it was themed as well!
Extras:
This year we added on Cruella’s Halloween Hide-A-Way. I was hesitant to add this on to the ticket cost of the party but my mom wanted to try it. It was actually a really nice surprise. The food was really good, the open bar was awesome, and it had a great view of the parade. If you are in the park with adults or only a kid or two I would definitely recommend it. We were doing the math on the food plus the drinks. If you are a family who likes to partake in a few beverages the cost is worth it. It’s also a great “home base” type of place if some of your group wants to chill and others want to hit the pavement.
Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party starts November 8 and runs through December 22, 2019. Tickets start at $99. We just missed this last year not getting down there until the 23rd. I believe based off the reviews and what we did see from the park at Christmas time last year that this is for sure to be magical. Same idea as the Halloween Party but with all the Christmas festivities. It snows on Main Street, you get to see Santa + Mickey and Minnie, anndddd the decorations are over the top! Tip: Do not miss Epcot’s Candlelight Processional.
