Having been born and raised in a big city and jetting off to the vacation hot spots (New York, LA, Orlando etc.), I never truly embraced the local culture around me until this year when planning a “staycation” was our only option of a vacation. Throughout this year I have been to some of the coolest places around the Memphis area that remind me of why I love the southeast and how unique it is.
I recently visited Sentatobia, Mississippi – a town with a small population but, a whole lot of love! I have such a soft spot for small, local business because I have one myself and this year really put it into perspective for me on just how important it is to shop local. Sentatobia has the cutest boutiques that carry all the latest fashion trends and the employees are nothing short of amazing and caring for their costumers. They have such a variety of business for each demographic of consumer and I got all my Christmas shopping done in one day there!
Now I know what you’re thinking… and yes, all that shopping made me hungry! We stopped at the cutest cafe just off their main strip for a quick bite to eat and there is nothing like a cup of southern sweet tea to top any meal off.
Sentatobia is rich with historical buildings and museums + they have one of the oldest operational courthouses in the country. I had a full on Elle Woods moment sitting in the big chair! p.s. I did, in fact, ring the bell!!
To finish off a great shopping day, we sat down at a local ice cream shop and let me tell you… it was the icing on the cake!
The most important quality the town carries is the safeness of their locals and visitors. They have dozens of protocols to ensure everyone remains healthy including a mask ordinance. Every store and restaurant is spotless and social distancing is mandatory as well. If you are ever looking for a place to getaway, or a fun shopping day without straying too far from home, I highly recommend taking a drive down to Sentatobia, MS. Their local culture and shopping are experiences that are rare to find! #VisitMSResponsibly
