I have always had a thing for the circus. Growing up Dumbo was my favorite movie. I know… why? I couldn’t answer that myself because now watching it as an adult I honestly think its a little creepy. None the less, my love for all things circus continues. When Memphis announced they were going to refurbish the old Liberty Land carousel and build a place for it at the Children’s Museum I was a little over the moon. I think the one in Brooklyn is sort of magical, so I had big expectations for ours.
It absolutely did not disappoint. The 100 years worth of history along with attention to the detail in the remodel, makes this staple attraction more of a piece of art than an enjoyment ride. After riding around a few times to take some pics I was a little shocked at the actual speed. Hang on to your hats because this is no joke of a carousel. This such wonderful addition to the Children’s Museum of Memphis.
It only made sense that this years theme for the Cirque du Mom Gala is “Over the Top, Under the Big Top.” If you will be in town this Saturday night, join me, and my Bluff City Lights girls, and come have a little over the top fun. You can purchase tickets online here. Hope to see you there!!
